Use Chambers Of Commerce For Finding Business

Using the Chambers of Commerce to find home party plan bookings is a multifaceted discussion.

Chamber of Commerce events offer many opportunities to market your direct sales business.  This method is often overlooked.

There are a wide variety of Chamber events and some do not require membership, so think (look) outside the box.

This article covers three on the list of (now) more than 70 direct sales bookings techniques:

  1. Join a Chamber and take advantage of all the membership benefits
  2. Visit the Chamber as a guest for networking
  3. Become a Chamber hopper and network as a guest

Chambers Of Commerce

Everyone knows that once you join a Chamber of Commerce, many opportunities open up for you. Often a small business owner may not have the investment necessary to join the local Chamber.

Many areas have smaller Chambers of Commerce organizations.

If you live near a large city, a little investigation will turn up the main Chambers that may be cost-prohibitive but also smaller ones for special interest groups.

These niche Chambers are usually cheaper to join and the members love all businesses, not just those who fit exactly into the special interest group.

Consider these:

  • Latino Chamber Of Commerce
  • Women’s Chamber Of Commerce
  • Spanish-American Chamber of Commerce
  • African-American Chamber of Commerce
  • Gay & Lesbian Chamber Of Commerce

Chambers of Commerce
These groups would love to network with you as well and often have lower membership fees. They are not restricted to those who fit the profile but are open to all who support them.

So, join one or more Chambers of Commerce within your budget and take advantage of all the opportunities that they provide!

Networking events are a great way to connect with other entrepreneurs and business people.

One of the best venues for these types of events is the many Chamber of Commerce mixers, classes, and directories.

These events can include breakfasts, lunches, dinners, happy hours, golf events, expert-conducted classes and guest speakers. Some Chambers even have structured networking events designed for you to network and meet many new business contacts.

These networking opportunities are a great way to rub elbows with other business leaders in your area and expand your circle of influence.

Bookings Tip # 29 – Go To Chamber Events As A Guest

All Chambers of Commerce allow non-members to attend their events as a guest.

Call your local Chamber Of Commerce and find out when you can attend a networking event to test the waters.

The best way to get the most out of these events is to attend. When you go to these events you will find business.

Yes, you have to escape the office or get off your couch and go out to experience one of these events. You may discover how fun and rewarding these affairs can be.

If you don’t attend, you won’t make new contacts.

The more you attend, the more new contacts you’ll make – it’s as simple as that!

Booking Tip #30 = Become A Chamber Hopper!

Chamber of CommerceThis is actually one of my favorite booking tips out of the entire list of 70!!

Depending on where you live there could be hundreds of Chambers of Commerce within an easy drive of your home office.

Example:

Here in Southern PA, I live in York. They have their local Chamber as does Hanover, Gettysburg, Lancaster, Lebanon, Camp Hill, Ephrata, Carlisle, Chambersburg….

I could go on but the point is that they are all within a 45-minute drive.

Then Harrisburg has its own chamber as well as the PA-State Chamber and a slew of others: GLT, Latino, Spanish-American, African-American, etc.

As a Chamber Hopper you visit one or two Chamber events as a guest each month. Visit a different Chamber each month.

Just hop between them to see which one you like best.

So, contact a Chamber of Commerce NOW and see when their next meeting is.

Just say:

“I was thinking about joining the Chamber but wanted to come to an event or two to see what the benefits may be for my home business.”

Don’t forget the niche Chambers and I am sure your calendar will fill up!
