Women Of Power Awards Honor Top 30 In Direct Selling!

The Direct Selling Live, Women Of Power The Direct Selling Live second annual Women Of Power Awards 2010 were announced yesterday honoring the top 30 women in direct sales.

This prestigious award goes to the 30 most powerful and influential women in network marketing and direct selling worldwide.

Keeper, founder and CEO for DirectSellingLive.com rolled out The Power 30 for the second year on February 26, 2011. Celebrating over 100 years of network marketing, the award recognizes women who touch lives and influence the industry. In an effort to say “thank you” to the millions of women from all nationalities and walks of life, the DirectSellingLive.com’s Women of Power-The Power 30 celebrates the largest business community in the world.

Avon Recognized Top Direct Sales Company

The #1 most influential woman in direct sales for 2010 is Andrea Jung. Andrea joined Avon in 1993 as a consultant and by 1998 was named the company’s director. Currently CEO of the top direct sales company in the world, Andrea Jung has been named number one not only by the  Women Of Power Awards but in many other industry recognitions including Brandweek’s “Marketer of the Year” in 1996.

The Direct Selling Women’s Alliance – DSWA

The Direct Selling Women’s Alliance was well represented in the 2010 Women Of Power. Co-founders Nicki Keohohou and Grace Keohohou were placed in the # 2 spot and the # 6 spot respectively.

Other DSWA insiders recognized this year in The Women Of Power include myself at #18 Deb Bixler, and Linda Lucas at #22.

Finding Sales Leads At Quarter Auctions – PA Questions Legality

Quarter Auctions have been quite the rage in Pennsylvania and a recent series of articles on finding direct sales business leads at Quarter Auctions got a good bit of attention from the CashFlowShow blog readers.

There has been some recent news and controversy regarding Quarter Auctions in PA and I thought a follow up article was appropriate.

As I said in the first article titled Finding Business At Quarter Auctions:

Quarter Auctions can be considered a game of chance in some states and may require licensing. The ones that I have participated with in PA all had a bingo license that (I was told) covered the rules necessary for games of chance. Do your own research in this area no matter what state you live in!!

Are Quarter Auctions Legal?

I do not know if Quarter Auctions are legal. I only know that they work extraordinarily well for generating leads and business for any direct sales company.  The last Quarter Auction that I attended had more than just the quarter auction paddle gaming going on. There were many games of chance being conducted including punch boards, raffles and pull tab drawings.

It is important to do your own research regarding Quarter Auctions in your area. Even though I was told that a bingo license covers quarter auctions, you still should do your own research, even if you live in PA.

Quarter Auctions News

Most of the articles that I have read in the news about Quarter Auctions have been about organizations that use them for fund-raising purposes and had no licensing whatsoever, thus were oblivious to the possibility that one may be needed.  This article in the York Daily Record talks about the Quarter Auctions Fund-raising capabilities.

In this article PA State Rep. Ron Miller, R-Jacobus, admits the system of gaming laws in Pennsylvania is a bit haphazard. Quarter Auction Legality A Surprise

I have not found any reports as to whether Quarter Auctions ARE or are NOT included under a bingo license. As I said, those that I participated in were in fact operating with a valid bingo license. This PA Petition is for the inclusion of Quarter Auctions in the gaming laws of PA.

2010 Direct Selling Power 50 Announced!

Worldwide Direct Selling Professional Awards

The Direct Selling Power Awards were announced this week showcasing the top direct selling professionals worldwide.  The direct selling industry’s premier list of global leaders was made public on live radio and simulcast around the world.

Direct Selling Power Professionals

The top direct selling professionals, organizations and companies were recognized in this long awaited announcement. Some surprises unfolded and others were expected as the list was made public on Thanksgiving eve.

Conducted by DirectSellingLive.com the awards place Avon leader, Andrea Jung at first place for the third year in a row. Carol Kurzig, president of the Avon Foundation for Women placed 22 and the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer which to date has raised and donated over $700 million to breast cancer programs around the world placed 23rd.

DSWA Celebrations Motivate Sales Consultants

I am honored to be a part of the Direct Selling Women’s Alliance (DSWA) Celebrations conference.  This is the most motivational direct sales conference that I have attended since joining the direct selling industry.  The reason is that the diversity of the networking opportunities and collaborative efforts that are taking place here are powerful.  As a successful sales consultant, I always found my corporate national conference to be inspirational and motivational, yet this is much bigger because so many companies are represented.

Network Marketing Training

The conference is a networking opportunity that not only provides training and entertainment from powerful leaders, it also provides insight into market trends, coaching skills, and vendor resources.  With the many companies represented, the education, vendors, speakers and entertainment are unparalleled compared to what can be offered at a one-company conference. I videotaped some of today’s programs and will feature them in future articles next week.

Nicki Keohohou Inspires Sales Consultants

Nicki Keohohou, founder of DSWA, opened the conference with a message for sales consultants to reach for their dreams. In her message she talked about the start of the DSWA and how the organization continues to reach for the dream of being a global direct sales influence.  With the global expansion in progress, as well as a continued growth in members, Nicki’s promise that we will reach our dreams and will not be “going away” brought a standing ovation.
