Working At Home Opportunity-Making Money Vacuuming

Posted by Deb Bixler

Benefits Of A Work At Home Opportunity

Where else can you work at home cleaning your own house and make money at the same time? Working at home, either on the internet or in direct sales, has unlimited benefits and potential for those who stay committed. I just got done cleaning my house (3 hours). During that time, I frequently looked at my Blackberry for business email messages as is my standard operating procedure. In between vacuuming and dusting, I answered a customer question and generated income. After cleaning the bathroom and before taking out the trash, I checked again and noticed another online sale. The beauty of working at home is showing up in my life more than ever before.

The Direct Selling Business Opportunity

When I first left my corporate job and began my direct selling career, it was apparent to me that there are many benefits of working from home in direct sales. I could increase my income by increasing my activity. I actually had fun doing what I loved and generating my income at the same time. I could sleep as late as I wanted….

One thing I noticed though was that many people that I brought into the direct sales business would not wait long enough or put the effort in to allow the benefits to kick in. They expected it to be immediate and with no effort. If it did not happen, then they were gone.

Everything good involves effort and commitment to get you there!

The direct selling industry is no exception.

Working At Home On The Internet

My direct selling career branched off into internet marketing. Everyone in direct sales should be taking advantage of the internet marketing opportunities. Working at home on the internet is not a get-rich-quick  automatic opportunity either. I remember when I first started on the internet, I was so frustrated with the total lack of success. The effort hardly seemed justified.  Looking back now that I have been online for 3 years, I realize that I was unrealistic. My skills, like my direct sales skills, improved with time. I became more effective and more successful online as well.  I studied, invested and stayed committed.

Frequently when I set up a WordPress blog for a client now, the blog never develops past what I do to set it up.  After I am done and give them a tutorial on operating it, they never do anything except sit back and wait for people to come! I am not sure what they thought… build a website and the customers flock to your doors?

Internet marketing, selling on the internet is just like brick and mortar stores or a direct selling business. You must build the building, make a plan, educate yourself and market the business in every possible way.

Most of all you MUST work to get paid!

Working at home on the internet is the same. No work, no pay!

Benefits Of Working At Home

The benefits of working at home are vast.

  • You can earn money while brushing the dog.
  • You can generate sales while vacuuming.
  • You can sleep late everyday. (Provided you go to work at some point!)
  • You can find business leads when you are at the park with the kids.
  • You can post articles like this when you are in your PJ’s.
Work at home benefits

Work at home benefits do not just happen though.

It takes an investment of time, money and commitment.

The very definition of commitment is that you do not quit until you succeed.
Working at home, whether on the internet, in direct sales or for your own brick and mortar business requires commitment. In sales they say that only 20% succeed. Based on my experiences online, I would say that the same percentage is true on the internet. 80% of the people who start a website never generate income because they are not committed.

Are You The Successful 20% Working At Home?

Are you in the 80% working from home who do not stay committed or the 20%? I’ll bet since you are reading this that you are in the successful 20%.

Tell us some of the challenges that you had to overcome in your commitment to be successful working from home. Write a comment below about your success strategies and I will send you a FREE “Talking” e-book which is part of the $7.00 home business e-book series.

So VERY true Deb. In today’s world of high-speed technology and high-speed LIFE we all want instant gratification YESTERDAY and that includes business as well. Most people who start in direct sales think they will have an instant successful money producing business with little to no effort. As you said Deb, it takes COMMITMENT and WORK to create a successful business and it doesn’t happen overnight.

My on-going challenge in coaching new direct sellers is to keep in mind that not everyone is as passionate about direct sales as I am and to respect the pace at which they want to build and grow their business, especially those who work at a JOB full time and start a part-time direct sales business.

I LOVE working from home on the Internet and do most of my business this way (and yes, if I want to work in my jammies, I can!!). You won’t get rich overnight, but if you COMMIT to investing time and are willing to learn, there IS success in Internet marketing. Great article Deb! Go treat yourself to a new pair of PJ’s now! :)

Great article. I agree with your article about working hard and staying committed. In addition, at least for me, when working from home, I need a schedule to follow otherwise I’m all work and no family time. Follow-up is another strong aspect of working in Direct-Sales or Internet businesses. Don’t abandon those leads.

Hi again, Deb! Challenges I have and still do face and overcome to be successfull in my Thirty-One business. I am a divorced, physically limited mom of two teenagers. They do not currently live with me since I haven’t been able to work. I am getting better medical treatment, and am improved enough to work this business from home as my body will allow. I live with my paremts since I lost almost everything I owned when my health took a dive. To top it off, my parents retired to “the lake”. Before I became ill, I had a thriving business and wasn’t really in need financially, so it was hard to go from security to dependency. I now live one hour and twenty minutes from my hometown loop, you know, friends, other family, church, in short, my entire start up market. I made the commitment not to give up when I became a Thirty-One consultant. I made my list; put it in order, and started with the 1st one letting each know I had something exciting to share with them. I made trips back and forth…working it. Last month I had 3 shows, did over 2,000.00, and booked three more shows. I do not want to loose my momentum so I am greatful to have discovered you, Deb. Thank you for the great information you shared with us in our Thirty-One call tonight!
