Ideas For Home Party Plan Games

Games For Direct Selling Party Plan Shows

. The most popular topics that I ever get questions or requests about are BOOKINGS and GAMES. It seems like every direct selling – home party plan consultant wants more bookings and party game ideas! Read the full article to learn how to get your FREE electronic “talking” book of “Powerful Party Plan Games“!

Games Make Shows Fun

Have you ever put together a home party show presentation and wondered how you would create an interactive atmosphere? Getting people to interact at your shows is important to generate the fun factor. Home party plan games provide the perfect opportunity to get everyone involved. They are fun, interesting and can help to sell a product very quickly. If everyone is having fun at your party, chances are they won’t be so concerned with time which will give you the chance to recruit business consultants as well.

Icebreaker games are a great way for everyone to get to know one another. They can also provide valuable information in a light-hearted manner. You will host some parties where most of your guests will already be acquainted with one another. Other parties, however, will be full of people who have never met. There are a series of games that can be used to fit either occasion, but for the purposes of this article, we’ll assume that everyone at the party isn’t related to or friends with one another.

Icebreaker Games For Home Party

One great icebreaker game is called “Name and Number”. Upon arriving at the party, each guest is given an index card containing his or her name on one side and a number on the other. Guests are then required to wear the card with the name side showing. This will introduce everyone to one another. Guests are encouraged to make these introductions personally so that everyone will become acquainted with the various names. After a while, you can then request that your guests turn their cards over thus showing only the number. Everyone will then receive a piece of paper containing all the numbers. The object of the game is to fill in as many names as can be remembered beside the corresponding number.

Another fun home show game is called “I Hate”. Here, guests write down the chore they hate the most and accompany it with two reasons. Everyone is then required to read their statements, but there is a twist. The chore is to be replaced verbally by a word that is completely out of context. For example, the statement could actually read “I hate cooking. It takes too long and I always burn something in the process”. When read aloud, the word “cooking” could then be replaced with another to make the entire statement humorous. This is a fun game that will be enjoyed by the guests and will be certain to break the ice.

You can also choose to utilize party games to showcase what you are selling. Here, “Pass the Parcel” or a treasure hunt can be a lot of fun. The winner gets to keep the product which even adds to the fun. One word of caution, don’t let this type of game run on too long. You’ll know when it’s time to declare a winner and can then move on to something else.

Direct Sales Games E-Book

There are many direct sales party games that can be used to liven up a party. Come up with some of your own and incorporate them into future presentations. You never know when they may just work for you and help your sales increase. This may also result in an increased number of party attendees as well which certainly will bode well for you and your business.

When you comment on this post below and briefly outline a game you have played at your home party, I will send you the full version of the $7.00 talking E-Book “Powerful Party Games”. This is a talking ebook because it has an hour long recording embedded in the PDF file for you to listen to as often as you like or to pass on to your team. What direct sales games do you play? Hi Gloria,
Thanks for the purse game. It seems like I might have written some variation on that in the games category of the site a couple years back. thanks for taking the time to post it! http://www.createacashflowshow.com/category/party-games

I have recently started with the “Left Right” game.

Essentially, you hand one guest a small but beautifully wrapped gift from your product range. You read aloud a story that is tailored to your individual business, but use the words left and right as many times as possible. With each left or right, the guests pass the gift around and the guest holding the gift last of all gets to keep it.

I play the purse game as well but also like to do a game story. I share a story that is written about me, my story, the opportunity and my products. When I mention the product name or company name they have to pass the item I handed out.

This works great cause I make it funny and it covers all the aspects of my business.

I am always looking for new games and ideas.

I have also played the envelope gamble game. That

Sometimes, when I need bookings, I play a game where I ask 3 questions at 5 different times throughout my presentation(total 15 questions). I may ask “Who do you know that has brown hair?, drives a red car?, has 3 kids?”…very simple questions. The guests write their answers on the back of their order form. When I talk about the Hosting Opportunity, I have them turn over their form and suggest they invite those 15 people to THEIR party and present them with a small gift when they pick a date on my calendar!

Two great games that bring value to the show. I know a lot of people who do the right-left game with great success. I had never heard of the one that Peggy presented to get bookings! That one is awesome, and spread out for the whole show, not boring at all! Thanks everyone for great game ideas.

This leans more towards catalog party, when no one is hosting. The “Mystery Hostess”…anyone that places an order of any dollar amount has the chance to become the hostess and gets awarded with hostess benefits of Free Product, Half Off items…and so much more!!! Starts off as nothing and the word spreads…. BIG!!!!

    ALPHABET GAME
This is a game to help demonstrate your product as well as to remember to let your customers know other information we have to offer.
You will need to have the letters of the Alphabet.
Explain the game by saying that we’re going to have some fun using the catalogue.
When you hold up a letter, they have to be the first one who shouts out the name of a product starting with that letter.
To keep count you can give the letters out or ask them to keep track with ticks. The person with the most gets a prize.
As they called out the product names, use those products to demonstrate.
Use the letters to prompt you into talking about the other Company offers & information.

I play “Ask Me About My Job”. I ask “Who wants money off your order tonight?” and that usually gets people listening. Then I say that I have 10 tickets for 10 questions about my job. The winning ticket will receive money off their order. This game helps me identify who might be a potential team member and their own questions/concerns.

I have decided to play the “Dice Game” at my next home party. I have been told my those that have had more experience in direct sales that it really works. I will update you on how it goes! But definately sounds like it would help get bookings which IS the backbone of our business!

Create your own BINGO game. The Bingo squares are made up of names of your products. As you call out the different squares, this gives you the opportunity (and reminder) to talk about your different products, or discuss a point of interest about your business (such as “if you book a party today, you will receive this product for free”, etc).

  12. comment number 12 by: Deb Bixler

That is a good one Dana, Actually there is another article on the site that talks about the bingo game and includes a print out that you can use to play the game at the show. Thanks for reminding me of party plan bingo: http://www.createacashflowshow.com/party-games/direct-selling-games.htm

Hi there! I decided to play Thirty-One Pictionary at this next party on my schedule. When the guests first arrive and are made comfortable, they are given a catalog and asked to decide which product stands out right away as something they know they want. They are also given a door prize slip at that time; and I ask them to jot down that product name on the back of their slip. When it is time to play this game, I ask that they pass to me their slips, making sure they are filled out. I explain the game. I will give everyone a chance to come to the drawing board, in turn, and draw the product that stood out to them the most. While they are drawing the product, and our products are easy to draw, they say what all they will use this for. The other guests guess what it is using their catalogs to help them out. The guest that guesses correctly gets a point. I know that some people will not want to come to the “drawing board”, so I give five points right away to ones who draw. The object of the game, of course, is to accumulate the most points. The winner will receive a Thermal Tote. This game gets the guests acquainted with our products right away,is great fun and hilites the benefits of some of our products. (After the call with Deb, I will figure out how to sprinkle alot of my “20″ during this game). This game may take too long if you have a large turnout. I’m going to try it out at this medium size gathering first. This will be the first game we play so I can manage the remainder of my time so as not to keep the guests too long. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated as I have only been a Thirty-One consultant for a little over a month. I will always be learning. This is going to be so much fun!!!

    An Easy Adding Game
I wonder who came from afar,
Give yourself 5 points if you came by car.
Were you on time? Not aminute late?
Punctuality counts so give yourself 8.
A necklace gives you 5, and earrings 3,
Glasses are 9 more when they are on you
10 pints more if your eyes are blue.
Score yourself 5 if you show any pink,
but take away 10 if you left dishes in the sink.
Count all of your buttons, each gives you 1,
Except if they’re white and then you get none.
Each hair accesory is 1, but safety pins are taboo,
so for each one you’re wearing take away 2.
Open toe shoes are quite fine,
so, give yourself 10 if you are wearing that kind.
Now here’s a chance to score you better,
Add 6 points if your wearing a sweater.
1 point for each year that you’ve been wed,
But take away 5 if your hair is red.
Now daughters are sweet, ond on that we agree,
so for each one you may now add 3.
But when adding points, boys are worth more,
So for each one of your sons, go ahead and add 4.
If you kisse your husband or boyfriend today, add 12,
But into your personal life I must delve,
If y ou kissed them both then you must subtract 20,
Because you are in trouble and trouble a plenty.
Now that’s all there is , so total your score,
Except if you’re a special friend, there’s more.
    It’s a 50 point bonus for a V.I.P.
If you’ll be a hostess for Scentsy and me!

Here’s a fun booking game that I have used very successfully. I purchased 8-10 glass ornaments (especially when they are on sale after the season) took off the top hook and slipped a paper inside with FREE $5.00 $10.00 then replaced the hook back on. I also picked up a Rubber Mallot in the automobile section of Walmart. I found a basket, put straw in bottom, and put ornaments in. When I get to my party I place the basket with the ornaments either on a table or on the floor, etc. This causes everyone to wonder what it is. They often think it’s the hostess’s decoration and wonder why, especially if it’s not during the Christmas Holiday! During my presentation I take my mallot and ask if anyone is interested in smashing any balls (or actually if it’s a fun group and you know you can say this — I say does anyone want to “bust any balls?”) Everyone usually goes crazy and just wants to smash a ball. Then I explain when anyone wants to help our hostess by having her own shopping spree (party) I will buy them their favorite item in the catalog up to $100.00 in value for the price inside the ball. (so basically they would either get it for Free, $5.00 or $10.00) The guest puts the ornament in a plastic bag- sets it on the floor and smashes it with the mallot. Some women really enjoy it – I often will tell them to put a name to it! When I do this game I always get at least 2 bookings, because it’s fun, gets everyone laughing, and once one girls does it…someone else always wants to try! You can put whatever value works best for you inside the balls too..I use the frre, 5 and 10 because that is what works for me.Good Luck with using this game!

Wow! Every game I was going to suggest has already been mentioned. The one that I love is the mystery hostess that always seems to be a big hit. Another game is where you put together an awesome gift basket or in my case a bag with all sorts of goodies in it or any other incentive that you wish. Then you give everyone 5 of your business cards with their name and a number on it. Tell them the first person to have 5 people book a party or place an order will get the gift. Its a great way to advertise as well.

During the holiday I use a Christmas stocking and put papers inside that stocking that has “free shipping” or the name of an inexpensive item in our catalog that would make great stocking stuffer ideas. When someone books a show, they get to pick a stocking stuffer out of my Christmas stocking. I give that prize immediately. Sometimes I say, “At your show, you can re-gift this item back to me for an additional $15 in free products at your show!” This not only gets show bookings, but keeps them on my calendar. The stipulation always is, you only 48 hours to change your show date to be able to earn your additional gift.

I love playing the dice game with my guests and it’s a guarantee to get a few bookings! The ladies love buying a piece of jewelry up to $100 for less than $12.00! I absolutely love this one!!

I play the envelope game. Have ready 10 envelopes, and inside each one put a note. the notes will say things like ” you have been invited to host a party, at that party you will receive 1 extra item at 20% off”… Sorry, You cannot have a party but can take 1 item at 10%off tonight’…. you will receive a free gift with your purchase over 100.00″ … you can offer all kinds of deals but the idea is to have maybe 3 chosen hostess.. and 3 who have been told they cannot host a party….. I sell the envelopes for 1 cent each, and let everyone know each one contains some bonus for them. Normally the people who have been told they cannot host a party will be the ones that book.

I play this game with my guests as an icebreaker before I do my “Silpada scoop” and the guests love it! It ensures that they hear me with smiles on their faces! All you need is to read the poem to your guests as they pass around a small gift colorfully wrapped or in a gift bag.

    Pass the Gift
    (Start with the hostess)
You can’t keep the gift but please no tears, give it to the one you’ve known the longest amount of years.
Take the gift and look around, give it someone with eyes of brown.
Please look around with eyes discreet, give it to the one with the cutest shoes on her feet.
Now pass the gift to someone who is short or small, and she should give it to someone tall.
Please take your time and don’t be harried, give it to the one who is the longest married.
You must be proud of your married life, but you must pass this gift on to the newest wife.
You can’t keep it, you must share, pass it to the one with the longest hair.
Some of you walked, some came in a car, the gift now goes to the one who came from afar.
You still have a chance, so don’t fret, the gift goes to the one whose birthday is next.
Now don’t get cross and please don’t fight, the gift goes to the person who is fifth on your right.
We should stop now, don’t you agree? The gift is yours to open and see!

I usually play a version of the purse game, but each letter stands for a necessary part of my presentation. For example, G stands for our Golden Guarantee. F stands for Fashion Tips, etc. I hand out tickets throughout the show for playing the game, oohing and aahing over the merchandise, trying on jewelry or suggesting pieces for another guest, etc. It helps my show run smoothly and also helps to make sure that I don’t leave anything important out.

I also play “Pass or Play” for my booking game. I take silver jewelry boxes and put a slip of paper in them which offers a gift. If the ladies agree to book a party and put the date on my calendar that night, they get the gift that is listed in the box. I bring the gift to their party. It gets them excited and they want to see what is in their box. They only open the box if they book a party. Otherwise, they give it back sight unseen!

I have played 2 games. The 1st is a Tic Tac Toe Game. I give each guest a tic tac toe board and throughout the presentation they write their wish list in the boxes. When my demonstration is complete I have the host name off her wish list in random order. The 1st guest with a tic tac toe wins by yelling “I love The Pampered Chef”
The other gmae I have been playing is “Got It Love It”. I have a gift bag and as I introduce new products used in my recipe the guests who have that product already yells, “got it, love it” and then tells why they love it…they get the bag. The person who has the bag at the end of the demo wins it.

i expand the mystery host plan by having more than one winner. One for sales, half price items, door prize, most guests, something for each booking, host exclusives. The mystery host works well for a new consultant who is hesitant to ask friends to her first party. In that case, only one mystery host item is needed. The new consultant can pick up the other benefits for her new business.

I really like to play the toilet paper game

Before the party, ask the host to in their reminder phone call to ask their guests to bring some toilet paper to the party for a game. Let them know it doesn’t matter how much, what type, or what color. They just need to bring it.

When you start the game, pass around paper and pen so that the guests can add up the auction dollars they win.

I give Auction Dollars for the following:
    10 sheets/squares or less = 10 auction dollars
    10 sheets/squares or more = 20 auction dollars
Whole roll = 30 auction dollars
Individually wrapped roll = 25 auction dollars
Four Pack = 50 auction dollars
Nine Pack = 75 auction dollars
    12+ Pack = 100 auction dollars
    1 ply = 10 auction dollars
    2 ply = 20 auction dollars
    3 ply = 30 auction dollars
If they load the roll on to the holder so the paper rolls under the bar = 25 auction dollars
If they load the roll on to the holder so the paper rolls over the bar = 50 auction dollars
If they load the roll on so the paper rolls no specific way = 10 auction dollars
White toilet paper = 25 auction dollars
Colored toilet paper = 50 auction dollars
    Designs/flowers = 50 auction dollars
Quilted toilet paper = 50 auction dollars
If they purchased just for party = 75 auction dollars
If it’s a generic brand from the store = 15 auction dollars
If it’s name brand = 50 auction dollars
If they borrowed from the hostess (because forgot to bring it) = minus 50 auction dollars

Everyone gets the total in auction dollars and the winner wins a chokito or a polly waffle chocolate bar, which really gets people laughing as the choc bars can resemble and are often referred to as giant poops.

  32. comment number 32 by: Deb Bixler

Wow! that took a lot of typing, thanks for sharing Amanda! Sounds like a fun way to do an auction with a new twist… giant poops! LOL

A game we play is the “Find it Fast” game. It is a game in which we pass a gift around beginning w/ the 1st to arrive. It is a cute poem (that changes as often as the catalog changes) and it points out the newest thing. Each line describes and focuses on the newest item and the person that finds the page # the fastest gets the gift, but only to pass on to the next person. It continues until each new item is introduced and the gift is passed around. The last line of the poem, or item introduced, is where the gift ends up and decides the winner!

This game allows the guests to get familiar w/ the catalog as well as introduce the featured products. It also brings out the competitive side of everyone. Super fun and gets people really interested in hosting a show bc they want all the new stuff and they want it for FREE!

Have guests write down 10 numbers between 1-20. Call out numbers at random having guests cross out numbers. If they have that number they take a chocolate from the middle. When all the chocolates are gone from the middle of the floor start stealing everyone else. Yell out(name of party plan company) when you have crossed off all your numbers.

I am a Scentsy consultant and a recent game played at a party was called “Hot Wax”. (Hot Potato) The guests had met prior to the party and had a few drinks along with dinner. The crowd was mixed as to some had Scentsy already and others were new to it so the hostess wanted me to do a short presentation.
Since I was having trouble getting them to quiet down and they were already starting to ask questions this game flowed perfectly. First I said, “You guys have lots of questions so let’s play a game.” I took a bar of wax, handed it to the closest guest and then announced that they got the bar of wax if they would ask a question related to Scentsy. The guest who asked the question got to hold the bar of wax until the next question was asked. I was able to do an informal product presentation by answering questions and they had fun too. I also allowed any guests who already had that product to share a tip or what they liked about the product and they got to choose a prize from my prize basket which held various little inexpensive items from our marketing division like a light bulb, nail file, lip balm, pen, scent circle…anything that had Scentsy on it.
This worked very well, encouraged a lot of interaction among the guests. Since they were already doing it anyway – this game got them do interact my way, with a purpose. I booked 3 parties from this show because it was so fun and informal.

Give funny but true clues about various products and have guests search the brochure to find them. Time it and give a prize to the one who finds the name and page number of the most items. This is a great way to get the guests familiar with your brochure.

I have often played this game with great success for recruiting:

Give everyone a playing card as they enter the house, tell them to hold on to it! Before giving your product presentation, tell the group that they can ask you any question about… YOUR JOB, the product, YOUR JOB, the company, YOUR JOB… ect. The object here is to let them know (in a humorous way) that you have lots to tell them about your opportunity!

    Instructions:
Guests can ask any question, but cannot repeat a question someone has already asked. (They have to LISTEN to your answers!! Assures engagement and their attention!)

Tell them that the beautifully wrapped gift (you hold up) will be theirs if they have the highest value of cards at the end of the game… and the game ONLY lasts 12 minutes. This gets them motivated to start asking questions.

Most of the guests end up asking more questions about my job/opportunity! It’s been a real winner!

The only game I ever played at my parties was for recruiting. I would set a timer for 3 minutes and tell everyone that for the next 3 minutes everytime someone asked me a question about the business, they get a ticket. At the end of the time I will draw a ticket and the winner gets a prize. This was a great way to see who had lots of questions about the business and also gave me an easy way to talk about it without feeling salesy or pushy.

A game I like to play at my lia Sophia jewelry parties to encourage bookings. I hook three jewelry boxes to cheap dress up necklaces then I introduce my hostess and explain that she is trying to earn free jewelry and I’m going to start her off with these necklaces. In each box I have put a small prize coupon. I tell the guests that if they book a party, they can take one of the necklaces and get the prize in the Box. If the hostess gets rid of all three necklaces, she will get free jewelry.

A game I like to play at my parties is called Thief… I only really play it with guests who are comfortable with each other, not strangers, but it works with strangers in large groups. I put 2 gift vouchers in 2 envelopes (such as $15 and $5 off) and a free product in the third envelope (but write it on paper so it looks the same) then I put them in the middle of the table. I write each guest\’s name down on 2 pieces of paper and put it in a fishbowl or box. I get the hostess to pick out names one at a time, and the guests that are \’picked\’ get to either take an envelope from the table, or if they\’re all gone, steal an envelope from someone else. At the end of the game, when everyone has been called out three times, the guests holding the envelopes get to open them and see their awesome prizes! Different coloured envelopes help as some guests think that colors stand for value.

I like to play “Draw Your Ideal Man”. Guests hold a piece of paper on their heads (usually with their catalog underneath) and are instructed to draw their Ideal Man in this order:
*Head – with hair, eyes, ears etc. (some don’t put mouths on as their perfect man doesn’t talk!)
    *Feet & Legs
    *Hands & Arms
    *Body/Torso
*Vital Organ (the correct answer is his heart but I’m sure you can guess what usually gets drawn!)
    *Clothing
Get guests to reveal their pictures – everyone has a good laugh! I award the main prize to the person with the most person-like drawing and an additional small prize to the person/people who gave their man a heart. You could also give a prize to the worst drawing.

You can scramble the letters of the names or features of your products and have guests unscramble them. Use the items that you are presenting and talk about each one when it is unscrambled. Place the names in the order you want to present them in.You can give a prize to who gets the most words unscrambled first. or something small to each one that is first to unscramble a word.

This game is hilarious and can really liven up a party. I use it all the time.

Four people each choose a celebrity each, the fifth person then has to put the celebrities into the following categories:
    1. Who would you marry?
    2. Who would you spend a night with?
    3. Who would you choose to be on a desert Island with?
4 Who would you kill? (change depending on the audience!)

You can use this as a fun warm up, as an emergency time filler. It can also be adapted to a persons product line too.

Be careful though, sometimes it can get out of control, play it with your friends first!

    Have fun

I like the Box Game. Wrap your product as a gift, put it in a box wrapped with packing tape and wrapping paper; then put that box in a bigger box wrapped the same way. I actually use 3 of my products, one in each box.
I play a game during my presentation where guests earn cards. In the end, the one with the most cards gets to hold the box.
Then I grab a couple of large dice and say:”You have to try and open the box to get to the product. While you try to do that, the other guests will take turns with the dice. The one who rolls a pair gets the box from you, and so on.” Everyone gets excited, and the person with the box thinks it’s a piece of cake…but then, I take out a pair of oven mitts and say:”Oh, I almost forgot! You have to open the box wearing the oven mitts”.
It is really funny! It becomes a cut throat competition of who will get to the product and keep it. The guests rolling the dice want to roll as fast as possible to get to their turn again, and prevent the one with the box to succeed.

I was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas for hosting a multi-vendor bingo party

  64. comment number 64 by: Deb Bixler

I would give each vendor a table around the sides of the room. Each vendor must donate a prize of a certain dollar value. Maybe a large and a small prize. Make a couple of basket prizes using the small prizes and then each big prize is a stand alone. The bingo games go for certian prizes and when a vendor’s prize is being used they get an infomercial. Set it up similar to a Quarter Auction and everyone will get leads.

We play a variation of the Box Game that Cris talked about. I wrap one gift and put it inside another heavier box. I wrap the box in gift wrap, and cover it completely with the wide clear packaging tape. We pass it around while the others roll dice to get a double so they can take it from the one who started and try to open it themselves. It keeps being passed to one another until someone actually gets in and claims the prize. It gets the guests to interacting and letting loose. Everyone enjoys it. I use it as an icebreaker and warm-up.

I have found success in getting parties booked by giving the hostess 3 (cheap plastic) necklaces and having her give them to guests that agree to book a party off of hers. The hostess then earns $10 off her purchase at their party.

I have played the Right Left Game and Purse Scavenger Hunt. Something I also do to get bookings is have a gift basket with me the day of the party… inexpensive items, but one really big item… like $10.00 off your order or more.. I then announce that the first person to book a party with me gets the gift basket. Something else that I am anxious to try is give the hostess (about 2 weeks prior to her party) a piece of paper with 50 squares. She sells the squares for $2.00 a square. At her party, the winning square is drawn and whomever gets it (and she can play too) they get $100 in free product! It doesn’t end up costing you, cause since it’s a lottery.. everyone who buys a square is paying toward the gift. Just something you all want to try.

Here is a game that I play to introduce my company Thirty-One to the guests. I’m sure it could be revamped to suite other companies. It’s a lot of fun!

    The Island Game

Each player gets a blank piece of paper and a pen. They must close their eyes…no cheating! After each step hold your pen up so I can see you’re done

In the center of your paper draw an island

On the left hand side of your island, draw a palm tree

Now draw three coconuts on your palm tree

On the right hand side of your island draw a stick figure of yourself

In the left hand of your stick figure draw a purse with the number 31 inside it.

Now write the word FREE under your purse.

In the left hand of your stick figure draw a purse with the number 31 inside it.

Now write the word FREE under your purse

In the right hand of your stick figure draw a dollar bill and write the number 99 on it.

On the top right side of your paper draw three of your best friends

Write your name on the bottom of your paper

Open your eyes and pass your paper to the left.

If your palm tree is on your island – 1 point

If your coconuts are on your palm tree – 1 point

If you are on your island – 1 point

If you gave yourself hair – 1 point

If you gave yourself a face – 1 point

If your purse is in your hand – 1 point

If your money is in your hand – 1 point

If the word free is not touching your purse – 1 point

If the number 99 is actually on your dollar bill – 1 point

If your three best friends have hair – 1 point for each

Give yourself 1 point for each of your friends that is not touching another friend

    Who has the most points?

Thirty-One offers you a lot of amazing things

    • To start with, the three coconuts on your palm tree represent the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as 31 is a Faith-based company. The 31 in our name is from Proverbs 31 which celebrates women as wives, homemakers, Mothers, neighbors, teachers and friends.
    • The purse in your hand represents the amazing products that 31 offers.
    • The word free under your purse along with your three best friends represents all the fun you’ll have and the free product you will earn when you invite a few friends over and host your very own 31 party.
    • The cash in your hand and the island you’re standing on represents the money you can make and the all expense paid trips you can earn when you decide to become a consultant. All it takes is $99 to start and three of your friends to host your first few shows.
    • At 31 our mission is to Celebrate, Encourage and Reward and it is my pleasure to reward the winner of this game: __________.

  70. comment number 70 by: Deb Bixler

I am with you on this Judy… I have never really been a game player. If you are not comfortable with games don’t play them. Go to the “games” category on the blog and just go through them all until you find one you are comfortable with. If it is FUN that is the most important thing for the guest and for you and the host the ability to create desire for hosting a show not really a trick to make them host a show. I would not have one of the prized be hosting a show but have the game itself stimulate desire…. hope that helps.

Hey Christine, There are a lot of game ideas here to check out. You are right in that the important thing is not to have a game that makes people feel pressure. If it is fun, it will encourage people to have shows and if you present it properly they will not feel pressure. The pressure usually comes from the consultant so you can make sure that does not happen. Our company sells chemical free foods. I made up a game to inform guests of different chemicals used in our foods. Each guest is given a numbered envelope at the beginning of the show. Each envelope has a card in it. I start with #1. The person reads the word on the card. I ask “does anyone know what this is?”. Some of the words are chemicals used in foods and some are unusual words. People know, guess, or make silly guesses.Someone else has the answer on the back of their card. After a few guesses, I ask who has answer # 1. They open the card & read the answer. When it is a chemical, I explain the use in food and what research has shown or what else it is used for. It’s education in a game and I get our point across. It also engages the guests.

For those of you concerned with “forcing” people to book a show from you, I think the point is that they will WANT to book a show for you not only because of the products and certainly not to “help you out” if they TRULY HAD FUN at your show they just attended. That’s the point of throwing games into the mix.
I used to sell Pampered Chef straight out a of high school….now I’m 26 and starting to sell again next month! I’m SUPER excited to try some of these new game ideas at MY future show and I think it wont be “tricking” them into booking a show – but rather “Hey I had alot of fun , and I DO love these products anyways, so I want to have fun with my show at my house with my friends, cuz this was fun tonight! Each box has a raffle ticket for a draw ($5 gift max) at the end of the presentation. The questions both help me to remember what points I want to highlight, to stay focused and on track plus gets the guests involved.

  84. comment number 84 by: Deb Bixler

That is cool, Selina – reminds me of a binder I used when I first started and passed around so the guests would help me to remember to talk about fund-raisers, the biz opp, and whatever I wanted to put in the book. Sounds, GREAT!

  85. comment number 85 by: Amber Worden

WOW!! So many good ideas! I’m going to be sharing these with my team – and trying them myself :-)

I’m a PartyLite consultant, and I’ve done a lot of these so far: The Purse Game, Bingo, Left/Right… I like Bingo because it allows me to talk about all aspects of the biz (product, booking, sponsoring) while we’re playing the game – so there’s no need to really play any others or spend extra time talking about booking or sponsoring.

Another good sponsoring game is called Stealing Hearts (pardon if this one was mentioned, after a while I stopped reading *every post, sorry). To play Stealing Hearts, I line up several candles (tealights and votives) and I have a 1/2 deck of cards in my hand – the complete suit of Hearts, and one of the black suits. I tell people that in order to get the candles, they need Heart cards, and in order to get the Heart cards, they need to ask questions about the PartyLite business opportunity. Ready Set Go! usually it’s quiet, and then everyone laughs, and then they start asking questions. Depending upon the size of the group, I use as many of the suit as I feel is appropropriate – sometimes all 13. When the Heart cards are gone, people are still welcome to ask questions, but they won’t get a card. when the questions are over, I shuffle and then start turning over the Spades. Whoever has the matching Heart gets to pick one of the candles. Now, there’s always less candles than people, so after the first 3 or 4 have picked, when someone has the matching card, then they have to “steal” a candle from someone else. This can get pretty funny! People get attached to a candle, and then want it back, and sometimes it gets a little heated! I offer to “toss” the candles back and forth if need be, and it’s usually a lot of fun. In the end, I let everyone know that if they really are interested, or have more questions, they can take a sponsoring “scroll” and we’ll talk a bit more later. :-)

Wrap something in just one sheet of paper or put in a company small bag!

Like normal pass the parcel, with music the guest pass teh parcel, however if you are holding it when the music stops youa re out so have to sit down!

When it gets down to the last two, whoever is holding it when the music stops has to give it to the ‘winner’

Has been a lot of fun playing this one, I warn them if it is breakable as it becomes like hot potato when passing the gift around and can often get dropped!

I do an Auction type party! Where guests are earning Auction Bucks throughout the party, and I usually get anywhere from 2 to 4 datings/parties at each and every party I do. In the invite it tells them different ways to earn Auction bucks, Arrive on time, $100, RSVP’d $100, attend the party, bring an outside order $200, bring a friend $200, date a party before the party $500, set up a time with me to hear about the opportunity $500, then before the party, I explain to them that I have 3 bags with me and the bidding starts at $500, $1000, and $1500, in all three bags is some pretty nice gifts, ways to earn additional money is a little bit they will be able to ask me questions about my job or Tupperware, when we do the product demo, you will earn money there, and at the end of the party, there will be a way to catch up if you think you are needing some “Extra” Cash! After introductions, then I say that they have 5 min to ask me questions about Tupperware or my job…Usually they get into this, but incase they don’t, then give them ideas, like whats my favorite product, how much time does my job take, what kind of money can you make, etc. Then after 5 minutes, I asked them 7 questions (Oh I should mention when I had out my folders, and the Auction money that they have earned before the party starts, I also hand them a 3 x 5 index card…I now have them write on the one side, their name, address, phone number email address etc, and then have them flip it over and number 1 thru 7…then I ask them these 7 questions:
1 – Are you interested in receiving Tupperware for FREE

2- Have you ever thought about doing what I do
3- Lets pretend for a minute that you joined Tupperware what would you do with an extra $1000.00 a month
4 – From everything that you heard about selling Tupperware whats the one thing that interested you the most
5 – would you be willing to set up a time with me to earn more about the Tupperware opportunity, Yes, Maybe, or I can be bribed!
6 – from everyone here today who do you think would be a great Tupperware team member, you can’t say me, but you can say yourself
7 – on a scale from 1 to 10 1 is your not interested, 10 is you are very interested and there are no number 5′s on the scale where is you interest.
Then when they answer all 7 questions, I give them 7 hundred dollars.

Then we go into the product demo, I show a product they find it in the catalog hollar out the the page number and give them auction money to the first person I hear and the number is correct:)
Then at the end of the demo, I get out my little container that has some small gadget items in it, like our keychains etc. (but if you don’t have these in your business, I have seen Plastic Eggs, little tiny gift bags used, etc. In them are notes that say $200 extra auction dollars, $300.00 extra auction dollars, and then others that say $1000 Auction dollars and a party to be held within 2 to 3 weeks of this party, and then I have 1 that says Grand Prize…my grand prize is a pretty high dollar amount like $40.00 to $50.00 dollars To make it fair, I usually do 1/2 and 1/2 with 1 so if you have 30 small/tiny bags 1/2 would say $1000.00 party you and me, and then the other 1/2 would say $200, or $300.00 and then there would be 1 more that would say “Grand Prize” Once I demo the Grand prize, pass that around (again create the desire for them to want that),…I then explain that this part of the game is Optional that they don’t have to play in this part of the game, but if they do, it’s not one of these things that they take, and because they didn’t get Grand Prize they put back, its once they take that they are expected to follow thru with what it says, because I will make sure if they get Grand Prize that they will go home with that today! so then I pass the container around, I usually start with the person who was the most fun, so if that person is in the middle of the room I start with them, because once one takes they all take! Like I said I get 2 to 4 datings at every party, this usually discourages book parties because they don’t get this FUN with a book party. So the datings I am getting are in home parties! Then I have them count up their auction money, and we bid on the bags. I do let them know before the bidding begins that if they don’t use all of their auction money, that they can bring it to another auction party of mine. This encourages repeat business at the upcoming parties!!! In the bags – $500 and the $1000 is a smaller gift, (more of the Tupperware gadget items, but I always say there is a gift in them that they can’t live with out), and the $1500.00 bag is usually a higher value piece anywhere from $5.00 to 10.00 item…Lately I have been doing a higher value when we have so many adults in attendance! So again when party planning my hosts, I encourage her to have 8 to 10 people there for a bigger gift in the $!500 bag! I hope this helps, it has been very successful for me, and we have FUN at the party. It is pretty adaptable to any type of direct sales company, just make it your own and have FUN!!! From start to finish, 45 min…I am taking orders approx 45 min from when the party started, so usually I am in and out in approx 1 1/2 to 2 hrs tops!

When the party starts I ask all the guests to write my phone number with my name in their cellular phone. Then in the middle of the party I tell them to call me. The first call I get receives a gift. In this way all of the guests have my number for future orders or to booking a party.

Wow! That is a new one and good one to Ivero!! Thanks,

My icebreaker at the beginning of each party has the guests introduce themselves, how they know the hostess, say something nice about her with the first letter of their names, what they do when they are not at a PL show, and what they would do with an extra 1000.00 per month. Get\’s them thinking about the opportunity and I know what their why is to tailor comments throughout the show.

  97. comment number 97 by: Deb Bixler

That is a good one, Michelle… I think Icebreakers are key to good shows. Before you start your sales and pitch you must become friends. I have always used the tell me your name and favorite product icebreaker and it is perfect.

I am a big fan of the Purse Game as an information tool and of the dice game for bookings. Guests like the idea of everyone being on an even playing field. No one is forced to host a show but rather it is truly a game of chance. I so appreciate everyone being will to share their successes!

  99. comment number 99 by: Mary T Sloman

I enjoy reading everyones posts, I have played a number of the games, The ones I have had the most success with are the left/right game, and the purse game. However, after reading the posts, I would love to get the game info for the bust your balls game and the price is right and give them a try.

I had no idea there were so many games. I have not been playing games and need to start, thnks for the great ideas

A game that we’ve played is “decorating in a dash”. The company I work for is home decor. We have taken two small end tables and placed a ziploc bag filled with small decorations (if your near a holiday time you can use holiday decorations). Break up guests into two groups. On signal both groups go to my table with my home decor products and choose products they like to decorate the end table for their group. They can also use the decorations in the ziplock bag to finish off their tables. Guests have 2 to 3 minutes and then party votes on best one.

That sounds like fun, Lara! Serves a great purpose too of increasing sales!! Thanks for sharing!

I too play the purse game and Stack the hostess with a twist. I use 3 people to help me “stack the hostess” with jewelry which is what I sell. I have one person (not the current hostess, but hopefully a future one) hold the jewelry or boxes as I explain what an average hostess receives for having a party. I have another person have one ccalculator and the 3rd person have a second calculator. As we go through what this hostess will receive, I have one person add up the retail cost of each item and the other what a hostess will pay. It’s visual and easy for people to understand why it’s so great to host a party.

  104. comment number 104 by: Antoinette Mark

As there are a lot of great ideas on here for party games, the one I am going to try is stack the hostess. I sell jewelry too and think that is a great idea to get people to host shows. Thanks Marlene

I like to play the balloon game. It is quite similar to the bust the ball and necklace games that have been posted. You get three balloons and write down a prize (cert., free items from the catalog, etc.) on the back of three business cards fold and then place one in each balloon and blow them up. At the start of the party I tie them to the hostess\’ chair and tell the ladies that if they want to host a party they get a balloon and the prize inside. But also if all three balloons are taken from the hostess she gets more free jewelry. I like this game because the guest can pick the balloons and it is not something that I have to hand out and then take back later if they don’t want to host a party. Also the hostess helps because she is reminded of how many parties she needs to receive more free jewelry and will start asking her friends to take one. The balloons serves as a reminder through the whole party and it is fun to pop them at the end and see what everyone gets.

  106. comment number 106 by: Deb Bixler

Thanks, Rachel, I like the idea – the bust the balloon game is fun, and this puts a bookings twist on it. Thanks for sharing!

I am in candles and I play a game where I put a different scent in at least 10 purses (purses because you can close them and the scent grows inside) I have everyone smell the 10 scents before playing and they see what the scent names are…Then I have them write from 1-10 on a piece of paper the purses have a number pinned on them and they guess the scent and write it next to the number.Pass the purses around…The one with the most guesses right wins

So many good ideas! The game I have had the most success with is the DICE game. If they book a party they get to roll the dice (a large one to roll on the floor…much more fun than little ones)..each number represents a sample size product that they will get that night in addition to the gift they get when they hold the party. Booked 12 parties one night. 100% participation. and lots of fun

I can see why this post hit number 1. It truly is an area that all direct consultants have to have a good inventory of! Fun, excitement and guest participation ensures the success of the whole booking, which leads to more sales, more bookings and more leads. Thank you so much!

One game I think I will try is the GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN GAME, you could taylor it anyway you want:

This is a most unusual game.
It really doesn’t have a name.
It’s as simple as a game can be.
Just listen and add your total and you will see.

You’re fashionable and you live in a whirl,
Give yourself 10 points if your wearing a pearl.

Give yourself 10 if your toes are peeking out,
And earrings will give you another 10 to count.

Add 10 points if you’re wearing red,
And another 10 if there’s gray on your head.

Now count those buttons, for each you get 3,
And another 10 if your showing your knee.

Oh Boy! Now for the big Hooray!
15 points if you kissed a man today!

Stop and listen, here’s a stunner,
Subtract 3 points if you have runner (in your nylons).

So you think you are going to win?
Take away 3 for that safety pin.

If you cooked a mean and hot heated soup,
You earn 10 points and a merry WHOOP!

Attended church on Sunday…Gee that’s fine!
    Give yourself another 9.

This game has ended, now wasn’t that fun?
Add up your score and see who won!

I have a combination of dice and envelope game. I have each guest roll the dice at the beginning of my presentation. I don’t say why, but just have them write down what they rolled. During the presentation when I get to the hostess benefits, I start the game. By that time, I’ve figured out who is the ‘likely’ person to book a party and start with her. I let her know she can have one of my envelopes (I have 24 of them numbered from 1 thru 12 so there are two of each). I let them know there is ‘free jewelry’, free shipping, money off their order that night and of course best of all, have a party with me!! This is fun and generally gets 2-4 bookings per party!

In my hypnotherapy class the teacher had us put our names in a basket and then pick a name. We had to bring a gift the next day to the person whose name we picked. The gift had to be something you already had around the house and it had to represent qualities of the person. It was a fun game. But this is for folks you already know somewhat.

Wow, I will never have to think up a game again-I can’t wait to try them all. I think the guests will love not knowing what game is next.
I also have done some “madlib” games, and the guests love this as they are involved, now I think I will use products for the the catalogue to fill in the blanks.

Can’t wait to try the price is right game! Have done a memory game (since our company mission is to radically reduce the use of chemicals in personal care and cleaning)I filled a caddy with all the chemical cleaners I could find around my house, passed it around, then took away. Guests have a couple minutes to write down all they could remember – to guest w/ most answers I give prize of enviro cloth which is the cloth our company is founded on and tell them they can eliminate entire caddy of chemicals and replace w/ this one cloth and water to clean their home – and that leads to start of my presentation. (This is great for group that is brand new to Norwex). This game can be revised to suit many other DS companies with products that lead into your presentation! Thanks for all the great party game ideas, I like to have several on hand and decide which ones to play depending on the crowd! Terry

This sounds like the similar game to what Phyllis is playing mentioned on the other game article. Thanks for sharing! She asks the last question “what color shirt is the host wearing…” and they all are stunned and can not answer. Love it.

  131. comment number 131 by: Phyllis O'Neill

Deb, let me just say first, that YOU ROCK! Really, all these articles and tips and ideas at our fingertips … my goodness, we don’t have to search ANYWHERE ELSE on the ‘net because you have it ALL right here!! Seriously, if anyone feels like they’re stuck in some area of their business, COME HERE!! Whew! So, with that said, there are so many fun games to play (including the one I posted earlier about having the hostess take products around to the guests for them to look at, then she leaves the room and I ask them questions — not about what products they just saw, but about what the hostess was wearing) :)

But, another one that is really fun is …

    “DO YOU KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOR?”

Have each guest introduce themselves to someone they do not know, or do not know well. (At the very least, make sure you do not pair up family members!) If there is an uneven number of guests, use your hostess as well. After giving them a few moments to get to know one another, (encourage them to ask each other questions) have each pair stand back-to-back, facing away from one other.

Hand each guest an index card and ask the following questions. After all questions have been asked, have them return to their seats and mark their answers right or wrong. Most correct answers wins.

    • What color hair does she have?
    • How many rings does she have on?
    • Where does she work?
    • How many children does she have?
    • How old is she?
    • Is she wearing shoes or sandals?
    • Does she have on earrings?
    • Is she wearing buttons?
    • Is she wearing a watch?
    • Does she have nail polish on?
    • Does she have a necklace on?
    • What is her favorite TV show?
    • What color are her eyes?
    • Is she married or single?

This is a GREAT icebreaker and many new friendships have been made with this game!! :)

WOW! Deb, your article was great by itself but I have to say that I absolutely LOVE all of the game ideas people are sharing!! I’m not really a “game person” so I have only tried the Left/Right game and since I didn’t get any bookings at that party, I’m guessing it wasn’t fun enough! LOL! Now I’m looking forward to trying the purse game, the “Bust My Balls” game (!!!), the “Build Your Guest List” game and the “Pass the Gift” game! Thanks so much everyone!

I like to change up my games. Some of those listed above are used. Another I have used it the poker game challenge. I use a deck of cards. For every question asked about booking a show or becoming a consultant, the person receives a card. Once guests have gone through the deck, the person with the best poker hand wins.

Guest list scavenger hunt. Ask 15 questions: Have guests write down a different name for each question (for example, who do you know that is the mother of only boys/girls, who is a teacher, etc) Then, say, you now have your guest list to host your own show! :)

  142. comment number 142 by: Lorri

I use this ice breaker game to help guests earn auction bucks. When guests arrive, each of them receive $500.00 in auction bucks. ( some receive additional, if they did things mentioned in their invites). Inorder to earn bucks from each other, they finish this sentence ” I have never _____. ” The idea is to mention something that you have never done that others might have done. For example ” I have never had a brother”. After a guest would state that, any person that HAS had a brother would need to give her $100.00. You go around the room for each person. It is a fun way to see what people will say and watch them “pay” each other with auction bucks.

We like to play the lap sitting game, where if you are wearing shoes that tie or have a sweater with buttons you move to the right, even if it means you are sitting on someones lap ( or several people are sitting on someones lap) The game continues until someone has made it around to their original seat.

  144. comment number 144 by: Jennifer

I like to play a game that involves giving a free gift. i find the guests are more willing to play if they may win something!! I read a list of directions saying they were given to me by the hostess, and everytime I say the word right, the guest passes the gift to the right, everytime I say left, the guest passes the gift to the left. At the end of the “pretend” directions everyone has had a chance to get the gift and I have had a fun way to get people interacting and even talked a bit about the joys of being an advisor and meeting new people in different areas! Everyone loves that “right”?

  145. comment number 145 by: Rosalyn

Hi everyone! I just found this page and I am so glad that I did! Thank you for all of the games and advise! I have played some but not others. One game that I just recently found out about is to use playdough. Have each guest choose their favorite color of playdough and then tell them that they have 3 minutes to look through the catalog to find one item that they like and make it out of the playdough! If the rest of us can guess what it is that they have made then they get auction dollers! I don’t use the black playdough because it seems to stay under the nails.
Another one that I do…. as the guest arrive I hand them a blank paper and have them write the alphabet down the left side of the page. They then have to think of someone that they personally know with a name that starts with that particular letter. I let them work on it until the end of the show. Then I ask each person how many they have. I then turn to the host and tell her that she doesn’t have to worrie anymore about getting bookings for her party because everyone here has already made out their guest list for their own party! They usually laugh! But I also use this oppertunity to talk about how easy it is to join our team and that they have made out a list of people that could help them to get their business off to a Great Start !!!
