1 Weird Home Party Plan Show Game
Posted by Deb BixlerI often get requests for home party plan games to play at shows. Since I have never been one to play games I like to fine tune and elaborate on other games that I hear of. This one had me laughing (really LOL) while I wrote the post and found weird items to post with it! If your company does not have any really weird products then you can find some like this to bring to your show and play the game as an ice breaker.
| Many home party plans, especially those that sell kitchenware and plastic goods, have unusual accessory items as part of the inventory. These items are often very useful, but may not be recognizable to those who have not seen them before.
You knew that the item to the right was an hors d’oeuvres tray, right?! |
|
Good examples of such items might be a device that holds both butter and salt for applying to an ear of corn, an oddly-shaped grill scraper or an unusually-styled egg cup, or even a pickle shaped band aid.
Playing the Home Party Plan Game
|
To play the game, the consultant should bring a collection of 6 or 8 items that have a specific use, but that may be hard to identify by simply looking at them like the avocado slicer/masher to the left. |
Everything should be kept completely out of sight in a small box or bag until it is time for the game to start. Gather the group together in one area, get everyone seated, and be sure to have everyone’s attention before proceeding.
To play, the hostess closes her eyes and selects one item from the container. She holds it up for all the attendees to see. She must then give the item a descriptive name and tell the group what it is for and how it is used. The group votes on whether or not the hostess was right in her description of the item. The consultant will validate the group’s vote. If the guess was wrong, the item passes to the next player, who will then create a new name for it and describe a new use for the item in question.
|
If she was right, she gets to pass the item to others to look at and the person to her right chooses a new item from the bag and the play begins again.
Would you have guessed that the finger to the right is a nose hair trimmer? This continues until all the items are gone from the bag. If the guests are struggling with identifying any of the items, the consultant can offer hints to help them out. If you want to give any of your weird items away then that can be incorporated into the game too. |
Unless a person has seen the accessory before, her guess and description of the item in this home party plan game will almost always be wrong. Players often get very creative with their item names and descriptions.
For that reason, this is a good choice for an icebreaker show game, as everyone starts the party laughing and having fun. It helps people to see unique and useful gadgets that they might otherwise overlook in the catalog, and sales of the accessories used in this game are often quite high.
When you incorporate fun party games into your show make sure that they provide value for all involved.
