With everyone working from home always looking for more leads it is amazing that many distributors actually throw leads in the trash!

Signs You Throw Leads In The Trash

I am sure that you are thinking….
Of course not!! NO – I never throw leads in the trash!!

Below are a few signs that you DO in fact waste business leads.
You are throwing leads away when you:

  • Don’t qualify leads as you get them at a vendor event.
  • Don’t follow up after your vendor events within 48 hours.
  • Allow guests that have already said that they want to host a show to say “call me.” (Read how to get the date on the calendar!)
  • Don’t do thank you calls after each party.
  • Don’t do out of the box calls for all your guests.
  • Do not prioritize business cards as you get them at networking events.
  • Don’t do business follow up calls within 48 hours.
  • Do not return voice mail messages within 6 – 12 hours.
  • Don’t check your emails twice daily!
  • Don’t stay in touch with your clients after the sale!

Those are only a few of the signs that you are throwing away business leads.

Don’t Waste Leads! ACT Fast!

Successful business people utilize and follow every lead to the end immediately and quickly! When you let business leads get cold, you might as well just throw them away as soon as you get them!

    Thanks Deb and I appreciate your bluntness! It is true – I slacked and really they are cold. I like your suggestion to at least try and reach out without saying where/when etc. and just see how it goes.     Hi Deb! So I have a problem. I have neglected Leads that I got from last fall/winter shows. My business had to take a back seat due to family health issues. I was going to “throw out” those leads as I am telling myself they will not want to be bothered with me now. But something says no – there is another way. How oh how do I bounce back and contact these ladies after all this time without sounding lame? I am being very purposeful in my business now that things at life are back on track and recent events I have followed up with. I am just so unsure what to say to them.       Well, Norma – These leads are as cold as looking them up in the phone book or taking them out of the newspaper or some other form of gather unsolicited leads. The are already thrown in the trash but if you want to pull them out only do so if you have nothing better to spend your lead gen time on.

      When you call them don’t point out the negative and say anything about the time frame and if you have any notes with personal facts, incorporate them in to try to get a connection. Write out your voice mail message before the call then you have a format for both a VM and what it is that you want to open with.

      “Hi Lisa, The last time we spoke you mentioned you really loved the large tote and used it to keep your beach gear organized. What beach did you vacation at this year!? I recently ran across your contact info and thought I’d touch base to say hi. Give me a call, we have a lot happening at Thirty-One! Love to talk beach stories!”

      Or something…..
      Myself? I’d probably leave them in the trash!
      Not much help, I know!
